With the closure of the HuggingFace LLM leaderboard, and no access to powerful GPUs, I stopped running experiments. The best approach to testing will always depend on the nature of the application being tested; I think many of the very strong opinions about "the right way" to test things you'll find online are a reflection of the domains the authors have worked in. The best tests are easy to write, easy to maintain, and are highly effective at catching regressions. The worst tests are difficult to write, tedious to maintain, and rarely catch mistakes or provide frequent false-positives.
